What to Bring

We will be using an Apple iPad (iOS platform). If you have access to such technology we suggest that you bring it along and you can work interactively with the facilitators. Participants are welcome to bring other tablets along (e.g. Samsung, Google, Android), although they should be aware that the workshop will be primarily focused on apps for Apple products and the facilitators may not necessarily be as familiar with other platforms.

Please ensure that your tablet is sufficiently charged to last the session as charging facilities are limited. You are welcome to attend without bringing any of your own technology and we are sure that the workshop would still be useful to you, albeit less interactive in nature.

A basic working knowledge of tablet technology is required to get the most out of this workshop – whilst it is designed to accommodate a wide range of ability levels, it would not be suitable for complete beginners.

Format and Philosophy

The aim of this workshop is to try and get across as much information as possible in the 2.5 hours to allow delegates to leave with the knowledge and ability to independently explore the tablet scene in relation to their own situation.

It is not possible to tailor the workshop to individuals or provide individual support in response to queries/issues to any great extent, but time for questions is built in to the session. Follow-up support can be provided as necessary via our Information and Advice Service.

No specific products or companies will be recommended by the Dyslexia Association of Ireland as per our general policy. Specific products and services will be mentioned for illustrative purposes and demonstrated as part of the workshop. No third party is represented or stands to gain from this training.

Wi-Fi will be provided and we will ask you to sign our Wi-Fi acceptable use agreement form in advance of the workshop.
