About this event

Presented by IMRAM

In partnership with Dublin Port

IMRAM and the Dublin Book Festival are delighted to present Tadhg MacDhonnagháin discussing his life and work with writer and broadcaster Cathal Póirtéir – and he may even sing a song or two.

Tadhg MacDhonnagháin is one of the most dynamic talents in modern Irish culture – a novelist, children’s author, guitarist and singer, screenwriter and publisher. He was awarded The Gradam Uí Shúilleabháin, Irish-language Book of the Year Award in 2015 for Mise Raiftearaí an Fíodóir Focal, his biography of poet Antaine Ó Reachtabhra. Screenwriting credits include the TV teen drama AIFRIC. His books for children include the acclaimed series Fionn agus na Fianna (An Gúm, 2006-2009). As a publisher, Tadhg is best known as the founder of Futa Fata, whose original picture books have been published in fifteen languages worldwide. His recently published novel Madame Lazare (Futa Fata), a tale of family secrets, war and the Holocaust that takes us from Paris to Brussels to the west coast of Ireland.

Duine ildánach is ea Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin, úrscéalaí, údar do pháistí, giotáraí agus amhránaí, scríbhneoir scripteanna agus foilsitheoir. Bronnadh Gradam Uí Shúilleabháin air as an mórshaothar Mise Raiftearaí: An Fíodóir Focal (Leabhar Gaeilge na Bliana 2015), beathaisnéis an fhile. Ba é Tadhg a chruthaigh an tsraith do dhéagóirí AIFRIC agus ba é príomhscríbhneoir na sraithe é. Cuid de na leabhair do pháistí a tháinig óna pheann is ea Fionn agus na Fianna sa tsraith leabhar miotaseolaíochta (An Gúm, 2006 -2009). Bhunaigh sé an comhlacht foilsitheoireachta Futa Fata agus cuireadh a gcuid pictiúrleabhar ar fáil in 15 teanga ar fud an domhain. Tá úrscéal nuafhoilsithe uaidh Madame Lazare, scéal teaghlaigh, scéal a bhaineann leis an Uileloscadh agus atá suite i bPáras, sa Bhruiséil agus cósta thiar na hÉireann.

Tá sceitimíní ar IMRAM agus ar Féile Leabhar Átha Cliath agus sinn ag tnúth leis an gcomhrá seo idir Tadhg agus Cathal Póirtéir faoina shaol agus faoina shaothar agus seans go spreagfar é chun stéibh nó dhó a rá.
