Description

This will be a good opportunity to hear latest technical updates and strategic changes in the the nursery stock and ornamental plant sectors. The line up for the seminar is:

  • Georgina Key, AHDB Fertigation and irrigation FERTINNOWA’s - practical implementation for growers
  • Munoo Prasad, Consultant Biochar use in growing media

This event is suitable for any one working or studying in the pot plant, containerised nursery stock and tree production sectors. There will be good networking opportunities and a chance to catch up with colleagues and friends.

Speaker Biography

Neville Stein, Ovation Ltd.

Neville has been working as a consultant in the horticulture sector for over 10 years. He has worked with a range of nurseries in UK, China, New Zealand and for a number of years in Ireland. He is also a board member of AHDB and a trustee of the charity Perennial.

Mr Barry Delany – Head of Horticulture and Plant Health DAFM Senior Inspector

Barry has been head of Horticulture and Plant Health at Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine since 2016. He has a vast experience of plant health regulations as he held the position of Chief plant health officer in DAFM and spent some time working with the EU Commission in Brussels.

Dr Paul Fitters Teagasc Lecturer

Paul has been a lecturer with Teagasc since 2003. He completed his primary degree in horticulture in the Netherlands and his PhD on vine weevil control methods in Maynooth University. He is coordinator for the Teagasc Horticulture Apprenticeship Development programme.

Stuart Mills Fargro, IPM specialist

Staurt Mills recently joined the Fargro team. Mills studied at Hadlow College, where he gained an ND in commercial horticulture, and worked until recently as a crop protection expert for New Place Nurseries.

Dr Munoo Prasad, Bord na Mona consultant

Munoo has been at the forefront of compost research for nearly half a decade. He has worked for much of his career with Bord na Mona, he now works as a research Consultant in the area of waste processing and product development from waste both in Ireland and Cyprus

Dr Georgina Key, Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board,

Georgina has a PhD in agroecosystems which focused on planting flowering crops through vegetable crops to improve pest control. Georgina worked for a number of years in academia doing research on soil fertility. She spent two years working as a professional gardener before joining AHDB. She has now been at AHDB for three years and runs the research programmes for the hardy nursery stock sector and protected ornamentals, bulbs and outdoor flowers sectors as well.
