Description

Teagasc will run a pest and disease event aimed at commercial plant producers. The event is hosted, with appreciation, by Mat Lohan and the Woodstock team.

It will focus on identification, monitoring and action points for a range of common pests and diseases with an update on current best practice for Vine Weevil control. There will be a plant disease clinic also - please bring samples in sealed plastic bags only.

Teagasc plant pathologist Brian McGuiness will:

  • demonstrate key identification features of a range of common diseases
  • demonstrate selection and preparation of samples for postage to the Teagasc plant health clinic
  • introduce the “New Leaves” project investigating shot hole on Laurel

Teagasc Nursery stock /ornamentals advisor Dónall Flanagan will demonstrate

  • key identification features of a range of common pests,
  • up to date recommendations for control of pests
  • preparation and application of nematodes

Teagasc entomologist Michael Gaffney will join the event also and will have the latest information on vine weevil to hand.

Mat Lohan Snr, Mat Loahn Jnr and Fintan Keane will give a guided tour of the Nursery


Tea/Coffee and sandwiches will be provided on arrival.

Please consider plant health and biosecurity when visiting the nursery:

  • Wear clean clothes and footwear
  • All plant disease samples must be in a sealed plastic bag
