Enjoy a Fantastic Family Picnic filled with adventure, culture and heritage. Listen to Stories of Myths and Legends and a stroll in the wood

About this event

Teddy Bears picnic is a fabulous way to spend an afternoon with young children. The simple things are always the best, and create the most amazing memories.

Join us, relax and sit around, have your picnic and listen to the stories of Myths and Legends, including Fionn Mac Cumhaill. On our guided walk learn some of the local heritage and history of the Slieve Blooms, one of the oldest mountains in Europe. Educate the next generation in the Flora and Fauna and how they can help protect our forests for the future.

The 8th of July has been chosen as this is the start of the Celtic Month of the Holly Tree. In Celtic mythology, the Holly Tree was the evergreen twin of the Oak Tree. It was believed that the Holly Tree helped restore lost energy and helped bestow the strength needed to continue towards a new resolution. The Holly tree was a very sacred tree to the Druids, it was a strong and protective tree and often people would bring some leaves into their home to protect it from evil.

The walk is approximately 40 mins casual walk and suitable for most children over 2 years.
