About this event

Our Teen Explorer Summer Camp will run from 28th June-2nd July. This programme will take place over 5 days for a duration of 2.5 hours each day in the morning. This will allows you ample time to get to grips with this amazing sport and enjoy the stunning surroundings of the River Suir. All equipment is supplied all you need to do is turn up and have a good time. Participants will learn the fundamental movements of kayaking and journeying along the River Suir

Spaces are limited to 12 participants on each session. This Camp is for children aged between 12-18 year olds.

Fee: €70(plus Booking Fee) per participant.

What we supply:

• All relevant equipment, boat, paddle, will be supplied. No wet suits will be supplied. Please come ready to get on the water. There will be no changing facilities on site.

• All safety gear, including helmet and Buoyancy Aid and sanitizers will be provided on the day.

• Qualified Canoeing Ireland Instructors

What you need to bring:

• Swimming togs/rash vest/leggings/shorts/t-shirt/. Please do not wear cotton. If you have your own wet suit, you are welcome to wear them, but it is not a necessity.

• Adequate Footwear (old runners)

• Sun cream (no matter what the weather)

• Hand Sanitizer

• Any medication i.e inhalers

• Towel

• Own Waterbottle

• Change of Clothes

Health and Safety Protocols in response to Covid 19

• In advance of the activity, participants are asked to travel to the activity venue alone or with members of the same household. Sharing transport is not advised in this Phase of the Roadmap.

• Participants are encouraged not to congregate at the beginning or end of the activity. Participants will be requested to arrive as close as possible to the activity start time, or to wait in their cars until the activity begins.

• Participants are requested to bring their own water bottles, towels and where possible personal equipment, and instructed not to share these with others. Personal equipment should only be shared with people from the same household.

• Participants are required to wash hands prior to arrival, and use hand sanitizer provided at the check in station.

• Individual equipment provided to participants will be cleaned and sanitised before and after each activity session. This equipment will not be shared during the programme. Time is scheduled between sessions to enable thorough cleaning and sanitisation to be conducted on all equipment.

• Sharing of equipment will be avoided wherever possible, as it is generally not permitted in this Phase of the Roadmap. If absolutely necessary, equipment will be cleaned and sanitised between use. All equipment will be sanitised pre and post activity.

• Participants will be spaced appropriately to maintain a minimum 2 metre physical distancing throughout the activity. Depending on the nature of the activity, it may be necessary to leave more space between participants.

• Participants are encouraged to adopt good respiratory hygiene, covering their nose and mouth when they cough or sneeze, and using a tissue which is immediately disposed of.

• All participants should be advised to stay home if they feel unwell, and to consult their GP. If a participant becomes unwell during the activity, they should be isolated from other participants and return home as soon as possible.

• Tipperary Sports Partnership will maintain an electronic record of all participants for all sessions, with contact details. This will help to facilitate contact tracing in the event that a participant becomes ill with COVID-19.

• Participants should arrive ‘ready to train’ We will not have changing facilities or toilets available at start locations of our trips. Please arrive wearing your swimwear and/or change by your car.

• In a situation where a participants falls into the water (capsizes) our instructor will need to break social distancing to conduct the rescue as normal. You will be briefed by your instructor on the day about rescue protocol.

Please do not attend and activity session if you within the last 14 days:

  1. Have symptoms of COVID-19
  2. Are self-isolating
  3. Are waiting on results of a COVID-19 test
  4. Have been in contact with someone who has Covid 19

If you are concerned about any of the above please stay at home.

Participant will be asked to complete a Health Questionnaire 3 days prior to the activity commencing and again on each morning of the programme

Due to our responsibility for reducing the spread of Covid-19, we ask all our participants to observe the guidelines.

It is each individual’s responsibility to observe and uphold the above guidelines and we reserve the right to refuse anyone we feel is in breach of this.
