About this event
This week we will be chatting with Olwyn Beresford from Cyber Safety Ireland, covering the area of digital media literacy, which loosely defined would be 'learning how to read the Internet'. We explore things such as targeted advertising, image manipulation, deep fake technology, health and wellbeing and digital footprint.
Tickets cost €12.50 + EB fee. A recording of the talk will be made available to you via a private link (sent to you the day after the event) for one week after the live event in case you miss it or want to watch it again.
Info on purchasing single tickets to all the other expert talks available can be found here
If you would like to join the Teen Talks Series you will have access to all 5 talks for €45 + EB fee, to join click here
Olwyn Beresford
Olwyn worked in the software industry for many years as a trainer, consultant and product manager, combining her technical (B.Sc. Computers) and business skills (MBA). As a mother of four she gained first hand experience of the challenges that parents face today in keeping their children safe online. Olwyn volunteered for Extern Problem Gambling, where she took a particular interest in reducing gaming and gambling related harms for young people, and was a regular guest blogger for CyberSafeKids before joining the trainer team at the start of 2020. She greatly enjoys her role today as a content creator and trainer for CyberSafeKids, which enables her to assist children, parents, teachers and organisations, to develop vital digital media literacy skills. Olwyn is based in the (occasionally sunny!) south east of the country.
