Ray Yeates is The City arts Officer for Dublin City Council. He is a former Deputy Artistic Director of The Abbey Theatre and has directed over a hundred professional productions in Ireland the US and Europe. He has been an Acting Teacher at the Gaiety School oF Acting and at the American Academy of Dramatic Art in the New York.
Ray has been asked by GMI (Gospel Music Ireland) and TC Arts & Media to teach and facilitate four theatre workshops in October at RUA Red in Tallaght as the first steps in developing a new production of the Broad way Play (James Baldwin-The Amen Corner) that GMI & TC&Media will produce in June next year.
The workshops will focus on the building blocks of Acting the body, the voice and the ability to play and are suitable for Beginners and those more experienced. The group will work with Ray on a series of exercises and games that will become the building blocks of their acting later. There will be am emphasis on having fun, improvisation and working together. In the second hour those of the class with some experience will be invited to perform a song or tell a story that Ray will work with and incorporate in to the exercises of the first hour.
The workshop will not exceed 20 people and there can be no new entrants after the 2nd week. It will cost 12 euro per workshop.
