You’re invited... Summer 2018 sees the return of one of South East Ireland’s most innovative free business networking events called the “Business Picnic” on Thursday 5th July 2018 at 5.45pm sharp in the Arboretum, Home and Garden Heaven, Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow

This event is free and open to business owners and their key staff across Ireland and gives the opportunity to connect and gain knowledge from one another in a semi-formal networking environment. This year the event is brought to you by Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office in partnership with Arboretum , Wright Insurance Brokers and Netwatch who will present to you a panel event with local, national and international contributors hosted by Anton Savage with comedian Colm O’Regan

The invite is open to all business people and their key staff.

The event if free of charge and includes refreshments on arrival by the award winning team at Arboretum - Registration is Essential

Your Presenter - Anton Savage

Previously General Manager Carr Communications. Head of Public Relations Carr Communications.

Anton has advised clients ranging from Cabinet Ministers, the CEO’s and Chairmen of some of Ireland’s largest PLC’s through to members of the Catholic Hierarchy and CEO’s of global charities.

Anton has lectured in NUIG, Smurfit Business School and The Irish Defence Forces Command and Staff School.

He has been a columnist with Sunday Independent, freelance contributor to the Irish Independent, Irish Daily Mail, Irish Mail on Sunday and The Herald, and has contributed to Today with Pat Kenny, the Marian Finucane Show, the Dave Fanning Show, Primetime, Ireland AM, Seoige, Tonight with Vincent Browne, The Last Word and The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show.

He has been stand-in presenter on The Tubridy Show, The Last Word, TV3’s Ireland AM and The Seven O’Clock Show. He presented The Sunday Business Show, Savage Sunday and The Anton Savage Show on Today FM and The Apprentice, You’re Fired! on TV3.

He currently writes a weekly column for The Herald.

Your Comedian - Colm O’Regan

Comedian, bestselling author and broadcaster, hailing from the small Co. Cork village of Dripsey, Colm O’Regan has stood up and made people laugh all over the world.

Colm’s debut book Isn’t It Well For Ye, The Book Of Irish Mammies is already a bestseller and was nominated for an Irish book award. It’s warm and funny observations are a hit with people of every gender, age and background (Available here at Amazon)

It sprang from the equally successful @irishmammies twitter account which Colm authors. Set up in early 2012, the account has more than 62,000 followers making it one of the top 40 accounts in Ireland.

His comedy festival appearances include the prestigious invite only Montreal Just For Laughs, the Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Electric Picnic and many, many more. He has played all over Ireland and the UK and even as far away as Cape Town, Tokyo and Osaka and appeared on The Late Late Show.

Colm has a long and growing list of TV and Radio writing and performing credits.

Tony Wright, Founder and CEO

Wright Group Brokers Limited – Wright Insurance Brokers/ Patrona Underwriting Limited/ Bump Insurance

Tony has a track record of bringing an innovative approach to insurance. He has secured the support of a number of international insurance providers to bring added competition and solid solutions to the Irish insurance market.

Tony and his wife Breda established Wright Group Brokers Limited in 1984. This insurance entity became a nationally recognised company earning a reputation as a leading provider of specialist insurance solutions for the Transport and Fleet sector. It is currently estimated to hold more than 20% market share of this sector.

Wright Group Brokers has established a reputation for attracting new insurance providers and reinsurers to participate in the notoriously challenging Irish insurance market. In addition to running Wright Insurance Brokers, a successful insurance brokerage, the Group currently runs two managing general agencies, Patrona Underwriting Limited and Bump Insurance. These managing general agencies (MGAs) supply international insurance capacity to the Irish market through a network of 300 brokers located across Ireland.

The company has been proactive in the acquisition space and has acquired and sold several insurance entities over the past 15 years. The Group, which now employs over 150 people, continues with its growth and acquisition strategy and is ideally placed to continue its current growth plan.

Sean Gallagher

Sean Gallagher is a well-known entrepreneur, speaker and business writer. Recognised as a champion of small and medium sized businesses, he is co-founder and CEO of leading commercial property company, Clyde Real Estate. Prior to this, he was co-founder and CEO, for over a decade, of Ireland’s largest home technology company, Smarthomes.

He has been an investor on the popular TV Show, Dragons’ Den and was a finalist in the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Sean qualified with an MBA from the University of Ulster and prior to becoming an entrepreneur, worked with the County Enterprise Boards, where he trained and mentored hundreds of start-ups and emerging businesses. He has served on a number of State Boards and is currently a director of a number of companies in the pharma sector.

A strong believer in the power of positive stories, Sean recently captured the success stories of forty-six leading Irish entrepreneurs in his first book ‘Secrets To Success: Inspiring Stories From Leading Entrepreneurs”. Launched in May 2018, the book immediately became a best seller in its first week of sales demonstrating the need to share and celebrate successful entrepreneurial role models for aspiring businesses.

Sean also writes a weekly column in the Business Section of the Sunday Independent where he profiles successful entrepreneurs.

He has also trained with America’s No 1 Coach and renowned author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, Jack Canfield, and now co facilitates Jack’s private retreats in Europe and the US.

Sean ran as an Independent candidate and was runner up in the 2011 Irish Presidential election.

Rachel Doyle – Arboretum

Rachel's entrepreneurial dream to start her own business started after graduating from college in 1976. Rachel identified a niche in the market and the seed was sown. Rachel opened a small garden centre at the rear of the family home and soon the business grew in success. Since then Arboretum prides itself on building strong customer rapport, supplying only the highest quality products and providing excellent customer service. This is the foundation for the achievements and growth of Arboretum which currently employs 117 people. In 2015, Rachel realised a long held vison and opened a second store in Kilquade, Wicklow. This new outlet boasts 5.2 acres with a multitude of inspirational gardens, onsite café and Arboretum shop.

This dedication to enterprise has gained Rachel worldwide recognition and Rachel is on the Women in Business Retail Excellence Ireland Committee and speaks at many events throughout the country and abroad, inspiring entrepreneurs and women in business. To highlight how entrepreneurial Rachel is, she held the coveted position of President of the International Garden Centre Association from 2013 -2015, which for the first time in 56 years was held by person in Ireland. Rachel is also on the main board of Bord Bia and is invited as a guest to all horticultural board meetings where she has served since its inception. Rachel successfully bid for Ireland to host the IGCA international congress in 2014, bringing 240 people from all over the world to Ireland. She is a Finalist in the 2018 Ernest & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Competition.

Kathleen Holohan – Carlow County Council

Kathleen Holohan became Chief Executive of Carlow Council on 19th October 2015, having previously been Deputy Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council from July 2007 and a Director of Services with the Council from March 2001. Kathleen was a Director in 3 key directorates - Housing, Planning and Corporate Services and Human Resources. She previously worked in Dublin County Council and Dun Laoghaire Corporation. Kathleen has been a member of a number of Boards including Venturepoint, Southside Partnership and the Homeless Agency which she chaired from May 2004 to January 2009. She was involved in the establishment of the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire and was a board member from June 2000 to April 2008.
