About this event

The Colmcille Connection: An evening of music, visuals, song and musings on the life of Colmcille and his influence in the Northwest presented by The Atlantic Orchestra Project and Guests.

Concept and direction by Catherine Rhatigan with new music by Catherine Rhatigan and Ray Coen.

With Robert Tobin, flute, Felip Carbonell, guitar, Ray Coen, fiddle, Catherine Rhatigan, harp, Treasa Ni Mhiolláin, sean nós singing, Seamus Gallagher, percussion, Prannie Rhatigan, percussion, Dave Aebli, bass, Isabelle Hauser, Trish Keane, Anto Brennan, narration.

Produced in association with Sligo Colmcille 2021, CosCos, Drumcliffe Rathcormac Tidy Towns, Sligo County Council and Celia Keenaghan.

St. Columba’s Church, Drumcliffe, County Sligo.

Starts 8pm, doors open 7.30.

Duration 75 minutes, no interval.

Tickets 20 / 18 Euro (conc).

Mince pies / tea/ coffee/ Christmas punch available for purchase in Drumcliffe Teahouse from 6pm. Refreshments not included in ticket price.

Covid regulations as current with the performance date strictly adhered to, you may need a cert or appropriate test to gain entry, and masks may be mandatory.

The Atlantic Orchestra Project is an international mix of classical and traditional musicians, singers, a film maker and a storyteller.

In The Colmcille Connection: 1500 years of Light in the West. December 2021, the 11 strong group of musicians, singers and narrators combine to present an evocative and thoughtful look at the Colmcille influence in the northwest and beyond. An original script, haunting film footage and powerful music highlight work together to celebrate the landscape and the legacy of this legendary son of Ulster.
