The Field directed by David Corri
The Field directed by David Corri
About this event
Directed by David Corri the play juxtaposes toxic masculinity with the strong empathetic character of women.
This is a fine production from a group that is no stranger to the work of J B Keane having staged Big Maggie and Sive in Listowel.
Thus, says Bull McCabe as returned emigrant William Dee bids for the field of poor widow Maggie Butler. The villagers of Carraigthomond become complicit in events, led by Bird O’Donnell and auctioneer Mick Flanagan. Maimie Flanagan sympathises with the plight of Mr. Dee. Will she crack under interrogation of Sergeant Leahy and Father Murphy? It is left to young Leah Flanagan the conscience of the village, to break the silence…….But will she?
The production has played to packed audiences this year and has received standing ovations in Birr, Portlaoise Mountmellick, and Moate.
