About this event

Amid the anxiety of Covid, we risk losing sight of the greater challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss that require a radical transformation of the ways we organise our societies and live our lives.

World-renowned science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson in his forthcoming book The Ministry for the Future examines how the world will look in a decade or so – searing and deadly heatwaves, species extinction, novel technologies, global ecoterrorism, all framed by the intense struggles to implement the 2015 Paris Agreement. Irish woman Mary Murphy, who leads the Ministry for the Future, is a central figure in seeking ambitious ways forward. The conversation touches on these themes and others, to discuss what kind of future awaits us.

This session is an event in The European Day of Sustainable Communities and will introduce Communities for Future (CfF), an action programme to inspire and enable transformative change at the local community level in response to the climate and ecological emergency. https://events.communitiesforfuture.org/

A link to the webinar and live stream event will be made available 24h in advance.
