Celebrating Goodman: Seminar, Launch & Concert
James Goodman (1828–1896), a native of Dingle, Co. Kerry, was a canon of the Church of Ireland and Professor of Irish in Trinity College Dublin. However he is now chiefly known as the compiler of an outstanding manuscript collection of more than 2,300 tunes held in the Library of the college.
To mark the occasion of the reprint of Tunes of the Munsters Pipers volume 1 and the announcement of the ITMA/TCD Goodman Digital Project, we welcome you to join us in 73 Merrion Square for an afternoon of short presentations on Canon James Goodman and his collection.
Guest speakers will include:
Lisa Shields, editor of Tunes of the Munster Pipers;
Roy Stanley, Music Librarian, TCD;
Nicholas Carolan, Director Emeritus ITMA
Emer Mayock, Goodman Trio.
In the course of the afternoon Grace Toland, ITMA Director, will formally launch both the Tunes of the Munster Pipers volume 1 reprint and the ITMA/TCD Goodman Digital Project.
