About this Event

Join us for our first ever virtual Santa's Stride & Ride and raise much needed funds for the hospice over the festive period.

We're so excited to bring you our first ever Great Santa cycle-killarney. This new challenge will see you taking on your own virtual cycle or walk donning your best santa suite! You can pick your route, distance and location to raise as much money as you can for the Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlinand cover as many miles as possible in your Santa Suite. Bring the family together in the great outdoors to help support the Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin) ! (socially distanced of course!)

So... how will the virtual event work?

You will be linked up nationwide with The Laurels Cycling Crew in Dublin

You will need to complete your challenge on the 6th of December and once you're all done we will send your well deserved certificate in the post.

Your challenge should be achieved in line with the Government’s latest guidelines around social distancing rules.

If you don’t have a way of electronically tracking your steps or miles through a smart watch or mobile phone, don’t let that put you off – we are happy for you to guesstimate!

There is no minimum age limit for the virtual event so don't hesitate to get the whole family involved.

We’d love to see your selfies and screenshots of step counts during the week, so keep us updated on social media by posting regular updates - use #Santacycle

Make sure your friends, colleagues and neighbors know to sponsor you via your idonate page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far are the routes?

You will be required to cycle a route of your choice, you can pledge how many miles you intend to cycle when you sign up. The miles can be spread out across the whole week or done all in one go. This should be achieved in line with the Government’s latest guidelines around social distancing rules.

We recommend taking a smart phone or watch out with you and use a tracking app. We urge you to follow social distancing and government advise whilst undertaking your walk.

What do I do once I've completed the walk/cycle/run?

Once the challenge is finished, we will be posting out your Certificates. Make sure you share your photos of the challenge using the hashtag #Santacycle on social media.

Do I have to raise a certain amount of money?

We ask each participant to raise as much sponsorship as possible. By raising £120 you will fund vital work…

When a child you love is sick, your top priority is finding the best care available. This is our priority too. Children's Health Foundation Crumlin, formerly CMRF Crumlin, together with donors and partners fund initiatives, research, equipment and projects with three main aims:

• Saving young lives by funding critical research and equipment

• Supporting small victories everyday for children living with illness by improving their quality of life

• Creating brighter days for sick children and their families by funding comforts through our Giggle Fund and enhancing their environment

Can I collect sponsorship from people online?

You can create your own idonate page with details of what you are doing, when and why. You can email links to your friends, family and colleagues anywhere in the world and they can donate online by debit or credit card.

How old do I need to be?

Now that the event is virtual there is no minimum age, however any participant under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (18+) and must include details of their accompanying adult on their registration form
