Description

Margaret Atwood's novel The Handmaid's Tale was published in 1985 and has become familiar to wider audiences since its creation as a TV series. While the TV series is now in its third season, Atwood decided to take up the story again in her novel The Testaments which will be available from 10th September 2019.




In anticipation of the next part of the story we are inviting you to share a piece of writing from the Handmaid's Tale and to discuss topics such as:


- What does the Handmaid's Tale mean to me?

- What is it like to be a woman or man in Gilead?

- Why was Literacy controlled in Gilead?

- How does the Handmaid's Tale resonate/does not resonate with my experience in the world?
