The Hugh Lane Sunday Concert Series: Crash Ensemble
Overview
Crash Ensemble presents: Strings in the Air
As winter draws in and the light fades, music has a unique way of reflecting both the stillness and intensity of the season. Strings in the Air, presented by Crash Ensemble, brings together a collection of works for strings that respond to memory, place, transformation, and renewal.
The programme includes the world premiere of Raymond Deane’s Frost’s Descent, inspired by the seasonal shift from autumn to winter, alongside music that honours milestones, explores personal journeys, and draws inspiration from myth, nature, and the echoes of history. At its heart, this Sundays at Noon concert is both a celebration of change, and a reflection on the moments and memories that shape us.

Amazingly ordinary people doing extraordinary things - Crash is innovative, adventurous and ambitious. The ensemble commissions, collaborates, explores, investigates and experiments with a broad spectrum of music creators and artistic collaborators: ‘We love to innovate, with quality always at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about the music we play. We create experiences; exploring new ways of presenting music and bringing our audiences on new adventures. Community for us is key – our community inspires us to create and experiment more. We value our audiences and our connection with them.’
Crash perform both in Ireland and internationally. The ensemble’s music is available on their own label, Crash Records and they have recordings on Nonesuch, Cantaloupe, NMC, Ergodos and Bedroom Community labels.
