Description

Please join us on the 29th of March for an evening of cocktails/beer, pizza and a variety of Tech Talks ranging from QA to Scala to DevOps from the following speakers

Daniel Carmo: Senior Operations engineer-Zendesk

As a Senior DevOps engineer, Daniel is always looking for practical solutions for the problems he is faced with. He has been through several companies - big and small - and all kinds of projects, which allowed him to gather quite an extensive range of knowledge.

"Embedded Devops - the journey so far.."

A look back on an year working as an embedded Devops. Practical results and lessons learned throughout the journey.

Tom Peck: Solution Architect-Lightbend (formerly Typesafe)

Tom is a software engineer, tech lead, architect, geek and teacher. He currently works at lightbend and is a long-term scala enthusiast, but previously he worked at EA and McLaren.

He lives just outside of London in the UK with his wife and two kids and when not building software he enjoys building stuff out of wood instead.

"Reactive Architectures & Lagom for Microservices"

Enterprises are increasingly moving away from large monoliths towards microservices. Although microservices bring many benefits, they're not a magic bullet and bring with them several new challenges. This talk will focus on how a message driven architecture can mitigate the inherent brittleness that comes with a microservice architecture.

Lagom is the newest member of our suite of products and exists to simplify the patterns that we will discuss. We'll dive in to some code examples and walk through some scenarios to show how to make your services more resilient.

Alberto Ramos: EMEA DevOps Manager Zendesk

How to run a motivated and engaged DevOps team"

"Have you ever wondered what makes a devops team tick? How to get them wanting to do more, come with new ideas every morning, and get them to stay in the company until they retire? I have my personal take on that and after 2+ years of adjustments is working great, here in Zendesk, EU region. Let me share that recipe with you and hear what you think about it."

Chaminda Peris: Engineering Manager-QA

Stable test automation

"In a continuous deployment environment, we rely on test automation to provide us with confidence on deployments. But how often do these test fail due to a reason not related to any change in the deployment?

About myself: Software Testing professional for over 15 years in a wide range of industries including mobile payments, education eCommerce and financial services. I do a bit of running when not at work :)

Beer and pizza will be provided and as mentioned some delicious cocktails/mocktails too! :)
