Description

The Scene Within The Scene is a day long seminar curated as part of the ongoing series Psychoanalysis and Literature.

7 CPD points have been awarded by the psychoanalytic section of the Irish Council Psychotherapy and the event is being sponsored by APPI, the Association of Psychotherapy and Psychoanaysis Ireland.

This seminar will be both theoretical and experential, incorporating a closed supervision group on Friday evening.

This is a rare opportunity to meet the eminent, Lacanian psychoanalyst, Paola Mieli who will be discussing Herman Melville's novella, Benito Cereno as an illustration of Subjectivity, Identity and The Nature of Perception. This day long interactive discussion will aim to illustrate how an investigation and understanding of the nature of perception, can be of great value to professionals working in the field of mental health. Dr. Barry O Donnell from St. Vincent's School of Psychotherapy will be speaking on the day also.

This event will therefore be of interest to psychologists,psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and doctors, students of literature and psychoanalysis.

Paola Mieli is a psychoanalyst in New York City. She is the president of Après-Coup Psychoanalytic Association (New York), a member at Le Cercle Freudien (Paris), at Encore (Paris), an honorary member of The European Federation of Psychoanalysis (Strasbourg) and an Associate Researcher at the Centre de Recherches en Psychanalyse, Medicine et Société at the University of Diderot - Paris VII. A Contributing Editor of the Journal Insistance: Art, psychanalyse et politique (Paris), she is the author of numerous articles on psychoanalysis and on culture published in Europe and America.
