'The Soul of the Irish Landscape' - Manchán Magan + Roisín Berkley
Event Information
About this event
Idir Dhá Thrá is an explorative series of music/talks/performances/lectures which responds to the cultural, social and geographical area of North Clare. The events shall take place in the unique setting of the al fresco (outdoors) courtyard garden behind the Salmon Bookshop in Ennistymon. The series will bring together an interesting and collaborative collection of artists, storytellers, lecturers, musicians and poets who will each share from their field of expertise and experience on topics which will resonate with the local communities in North Clare. These series of events are supported by The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and the Clare Arts.
For our third event, we welcome Manchán Magan to Ennistymon. Manchán is a writer and documentary-maker. He has written books on his travels in Africa, India and South America and two novels. His most recent book, 32 Words For Field, has garnered huge interest from both the public and literary circles and remains a best-seller on the Irish market. He writes occasionally for The Irish Times, reports on travel for various radio programmes, and has presented dozens of documentaries on issues of world culture for TG4, RTÉ & Travel Channel. He lives in an oak wood, with bees and hens, in a grass-roofed house near Lough Lene, Co Westmeath. Manchán will make a presentation on the soul of the Irish landscape, and explore our connection to the land through language, location and nature.
Our third event will also feature a performance from harpist Roisín Berkley. Roisín is a traditional Irish harpist, and performs on stage with Dublin singer Gemma Dunleavy. Roisín currently resides in Lahinch in Co. Clare.
All Idir Dhá Thrá events will be held outdoors and everyone in attendance is reminded to abide by the Covid restrictions currently in place.
