The Trial is a compelling visual art installation on healthcare and human rights in the Irish criminal justice system.
About this event
The Trial is an artwork created by artist Dr Sinead McCann, made in collaboration with men from the Bridge Project Dublin who have lived prison experiences, and research by UCD historians, Dr Catherine Cox and Dr Fiachra Byrne.
It is multi-screen video and sound installation exploring the theme of healthcare and human rights within the Irish criminal justice system.
Over the course of 22 minutes, the stories of prisoners from as far back as the 1850’s up to the present day are brought to life in a series of engaging and provocative monologues by well-known actors from stage and screen.
Staring Irish actor Tommy O’Neill who is best known for his role as detective John Deegan on RTÉ One’s Fair City who was incarcerated during the 1980's before turning his life around, and Neili Conroy, (also a star in RTE soap ‘Fair City’), as well as up-and-coming actor Charlie Hughes Farrell.
