The Thriveabetes Sugar Surfing Workshop takes place on Saturday, May 13th from 10am until 2pm in The Carlton Dublin Airport Hotel, Cloghran, Co. Dublin.
The workshop will be presented by Dr Stephen Ponder, who is a consultant endocrinologist from Texas, USA, since 1989, co-author along with Kevin McMahon of “Sugar Surfing; How to manage Type 1 Diabetes in a Modern World” and has lived with the condition himself for over 50 years.
What is Sugar Surfing?
The Sugar Surfing method involves using the current information from a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) or a Freestyle Libre (Flash Glucose Monitor) about where your blood sugar level is right now and where it's going to prevent any highs or lows that might follow.
Most diabetes education is based on changing insulin doses based on past events. Sugar surfing is managing diabetes in real time rather than after the high or low blood glucose event has occurred.
Who is Sugar Surfing for?
This event would be most valuable to people with type 1 diabetes (parents and adults) who use a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) or the Freestyle Libre.
Advance registration is required to attend
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
This event is for adults living with and for parents of children with type 1 diabetes. We would not recommend bringing any children to this event unless they are mature enough to absorb the information.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
The best way to contact the organiser is via email Grainne@thriveabetes.ie or via Facebook messenger on the Thriveabetes Page.
What's the refund policy?
A full refund will be given if the refund is requested on or before 11am on Friday the 12th May. No refund will be given after midnight on Thursday May 11th .
