Event description

Description

An opportunity to visit a Spanish Oceanic Patrol Vessel (OPV) which has sailed to Sligo for the festival and to honour the memory of the Spanish Armada sailors and soldiers who died at Streedagh in 1588. This ship requires deepwater facilities, the nearest of which are at Killybegs in County Donegal. Note that this is the first year that members of the public have been allowed to board the ship, and this promises to be a fascinating experience for those interested in maritime and military affairs.

It is important to note that the general public will not be able to access the ship, you MUST be part of this official Armada group to board the ship and places are limited so book early. Please do not turn up at the quayside on the day expecting access, this will not be permitted for insurance and safety reasons.

Bus to leave Grange at 11am for Killybegs, returning at 5pm. You will arrive in Killybegs at 12pm and be ferried aboard the OPV, a Spanish naval vessel which has sailed as part of the Remembering the Armada Heritage Weekend. Onboard tour. Lunch and transportation included in the price.
