Event description

Description

Ceardlann lae theicniúil le haghaidh aistritheoirí na Gaeilge

Please note: The workshop is open only to Irish-language translators working in public sector, freelance or in training (students). Training will be delivered through English.

The world of translation is quickly changing in light of advances in translation technology. The role of the translator is therefore evolving accordingly. Yet, keeping up with the latest technologies and approaches can prove difficult for some translators.

The aim of this workshop is to offer technical training and guidance for translators who are primarily working with the Irish language. Some of the topic covered during the workshop include: the importance of Computer Assisted Translation, the difference between Translation Memory and Machine Translation, practical hands-on sessions, post-editing skills, best practice in translation data management, Public Sector Information/licensing/sharing, and Ireland's role in improving eTranslation at the European Commission.
