Talk Abstract
We hope you will join us for Professor Aoife Mc Lysaght's talk on Evolutionary Genetics: reading the book of life.
Each of us carries our own personal history inside the cells of our body. Your genome has been passed down through an unbroken chain of transmission tracing right back to the origins of life. This simple fact unites all life on this planet through common ancestry and the shared rules of molecular biology. Yet, despite this commonality, life is remarkably –breathtakingly– diverse.
Location: Trinity Business School, Dargan Theatre lecture on 9th February 2023 at 6pm - 7.30pm. Refreshments are provided.

About this lecture series
It is the tradition in Trinity College Dublin that newly appointed Professors are invited to give an inaugural lecture. The lecture represents the recognition of their promotion to full Professor, and the lecture itself provides an opportunity to showcase their achievements in research, innovation, engagement and teaching activities before an audience of members of the University community, invited stakeholders and the general public. An inaugural lecture is a significant event in an academic staff member’s career. In Trinity College Dublin, inaugural lectures are a ceremonial occasion; academic robes are worn by the inaugural professor and the rest of the platform party. The Faculty is proud to present the inaugural lecture of Professor Aoife Mc Lysaght.
