TRUSTWORTHY AI – THE SHAPE OF REGULATION TO COME
CRITICAL EARLY INFORMATION EVENT FOR BUSINESS
A new European regulation in Europe, often referred to as a ‘GDPR for artificial intelligence’, is likely to come our way in the near future. It will affect every business in Europe that uses AI to engage with EU citizens. In April 2019 the High-Level Expert Group on AI (HLEG-AI) published its ‘Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI’. In response to these guidelines, European Commission President Ursula Van Der Leyen pledged to issue plans for AI regulation within her first 100 days of office. Businesses that understand HLEG-AI guidelines and take a proactive approach to upcoming Trustworthy AI regulation will gain:
· a competitive advantage in their sector
· the opportunity to build compliance early and cost effectively
· customer trust in their AI systems
Professor Barry O’Sullivan, Director of the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics, is Vice Chair of the HLEG-AI. On February 19 2020 Insight will host a critical early information event ‘Trustworthy AI for Business’. The event at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin will feature speakers with first-hand knowledge of Trustworthy AI guidelines and emerging regulation. Experts will guide attendees through the main components of Trustworthy AI and provide insights into assessment procedures.
