Event description

Description

Maternity Care Research Symposium: Twenty-one years of research in maternity care - how far have we come? The maternity care researchers from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and some of their clinical colleagues and students, will give short presentations from their research work over the past 21 years. Topics include concealed pregnancy, postnatal maternal morbidity, managing pre-labour rupture of membranes at term, increasing VBAC rates, breast-feeding, perinatal palliative care, and frenotomy. There will be time for a panel discussion and questions also, with a view to examining how research can assist the implementation of the National Maternity Strategy.

Light refreshments will be provided during the symposium.

All attendees are invited to stay after the symposium for the launch of a book by Ussher Assistant Professor of Midwifery Dr. Elizabeth Newnham (and colleagues Dr. Lois McKellar and Prof. Jan Pincombe) Toward the humanisation of birth: A study of epidural analgesia and hospital birth culture
