Discussing Africapitalism

In the last two decades Africa has been churning out a lot of good news from its socio-economic and business development outlook; notable economic growth in most countries, Africa Continental Free Trade Area, ECO- a common currency of West African bloc of countries, and the expansion of Ethiopian Airways approximating a Pan-African Airline, operating throughout most of the continent and connecting Africa with global destinations.

To capture this impressive progress there has been also a rise of a unique- African socio-economic and business ethos now encapsulated in the term Africapitalism.

Building on the spirit of previous gatherings: Invitation to understand and explain the emerging African business landscape and development better, the UCD-Africa Business Conference 2020 is dedicated to the discussion and debate of Africapitalism.

Professor Kenneth Amaeshi, (Chair in Business and Sustainable Development and Director of the Sustainable Business Initiative, Edinburg University) a leading scholar on Africapitalism will deliver a keynote address of the conference that will explore developments in African business landscape and situate and explain the depth and breadth of Africapitalism and its utility in Africa and globally.

Further deliberations on Africapitalism will continue through a panel discussion chaired by Dr Penelope Muzanenhamo (Assistant Professor in Business and Society in Africa-UCD College of Business)

followed by a Doing Business in Africa Masterclass 2020 that will be delivered by Mr. Brett Beach, the co-founder of MIA chocolate.
