About this Event

The world of social media provides an overwhelming amount of information on food and nutrition. Often this information can be misleading and, in some instances, harmful to people’s health. For the average person, it is difficult to know whether this information is fact or fiction.

The UCD Institute of Food and Health is an international leader in food and health research, with a major focus on nutrition and expertise in the role of nutrition on heart health, diabetes, cancer, obesity, ageing, pregnancy, childhood and other critical stages of life. Communicating sound, factual nutrition evidence is an integral part of our work and following the success of our inaugural Public Lecture Series in 2019, we are delighted to run the series again in 2020. The topics for 2020 will be:

Thursday 16th January 2020 – Healthy School Lunches; Dr Celine Murrin

Monday 18th May 2020 - Nutrition and Exercise for Weight Management: Fact and Fiction; Prof Clare Corish and Dr Katy Horner

Monday 15th June 2020 - Adolescent Nutrition: What is Important? Dr Breige McNulty

Monday 21st September 2020 – What is a Healthy Sustainable Diet? Dr Aifric O’ Sullivan

Monday 19th October 2020 - Nutrition and Cancer: Prevention and Survivorship. Dr Amy Mullee

Monday 16th November 2020 – Nutrition and Sports Performance; Dr Katy Horner

ALL LECTURES FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2020 WILL BE DELIVERED ONLINE AS A WEBINAR. PRE-REGISTRATION IS ESSENTIAL AND DETAILS ON HOW TO LOG IN WILL BE SENT IN ADVANCE OF EACH LECTURE.
