Fifty years ago in October 1965 the discipline of Art History, then known as the History of European Painting, was offered for the first time as a degree subject in Ireland at University College Dublin.
As part of our ‘50 Years’ events we are hosting an afternoon of celebrations and recollections marking five decades of Art History at UCD under the founder Dr Françoise Henry, & the Chairs of Professor Alistair Rowan, Professor Michael McCarthy and Professor Kathleen James-Chakraborty, with a Keynote Address by Dr Brian P. Kennedy, Director of the Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio.
