Every year since 2000 on 17 October, celebrations for the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty have been taking place in Dublin.
This year, come and join us on Custom House Quay around the Human Rights and Poverty Stone (close the the Famine Statues) from 10.30 to mark this day together and to listen to testimonies from people struggling against poverty (Formal Commemoration will start sharp at 11am and end at 12.15pm ).
The theme of the day will refer to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: "Growing Together to Leave No One Behind". A message of dignity, justice and participation in society without shame will be at the core of this global momentum.
Speakers will include: The President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, The Lord Mayor of Dublin Bredan Carr, as well as people with direct experience of consistent poverty.
From 12.30 to 13.30 refreshment and mingling in the Hall of Sheriff Youth Club (5 minutes walk from the Human Rights and Poverty Stone)
