Understanding Relational Child & Youth Care:

The MASTER CLASS is designed to give an extensive overview of the Characteristics of Effective Child and Youth Care, a discipline grounded in relational practice. Together we will explore the meaning, definitions and applicability of Relational Practice.

This Masterclass is open to Professional (such as Social Worker, Social Care Staff, Family Support Workers), Educators & Trainers, Carers, Clinicians and anyone who is living, dealing and working with troubled youth and those exhibiting challenging behaviours.

A very limited number of places are available on a first come basis.

Dr Thom Garfat has worked with youth, families and those who work with them for almost 50 years. He is currently an International consultant and trainer for foster care, family care, kinship care, program development and residential care in South Africa, the USA, Ireland, Scotland, Canada and various other countries. Thom is the Co-founder and editor of the International Child & Youth Care Network (www.cyc-net.org). He is the author of numerous professional articles and books and is a Senior Trainer with the Circle of Courage Institute and is the developer of the training, for Child Care Workers, Foster Carers, and other helpers of The Therapeutic Use of Daily Life Events which is utilized worldwide. He is the author of ‘Part of the Circle’, a Plan of Action for revising youth services in the Cree Nation of Northern Quebec and has worked with and consulted to other First Nation communities. Through his company TransformAction International, Thom offers consultation, training and keynote addresses around the world.
