Description

All roads will again lead to Union Hall this August bank holiday weekend for the 3rd running of the

Union Hall Charity Super Stars, over the last 2 years we have raised over €16000 for various
charities and this year we are running this fun, free, family event in aid of a great local charity the
Friends of Skibbereen Hospital. As well as the main Super Stars event on Sunday, the first ever Battle
of the Businesses will take place on Saturday afternoon in which businesses, clubs, organisations
will battle it out in this fun event. (please see details below). We will have live music, full bar
facilities, kids’ sports, big screen for GAA games over the weekend so it is sure to be a great event
for all the family.
We are asking all businesses to donate €200 to this great cause and as well as becoming a Gold
sponsor of the event you will also be invited to enter up to 2 participants in the following.
1. Union Hall Charity Super Stars (Sunday 4th)
• This event is run as the Super Stars were run in the 1980’s.
• Competitors will compete in heats of 6.
• Competitors compete in up to 8 different disciplines for a prize fund of €2000
• Events are soccer, basketball, obstacle course, box jumps,80M sprint, rowing,
hanging tuff, and 800M run.
• This event would need a participant of fairly good fitness
• If you cannot find someone to participate, the organisers will enter a competent
person to represent your business

2. Battle of the Businesses (Saturday Afternoon 3rd)
• This FUN event and will be run in the Fittest Family format.
• Each team will consist of 3 members
• Each team must consist of 1 over 35, one female & one U18 (no U15)
• Teams compete in an obstacle course and hanging tuff.
• Why not do it in fancy dress? in your company uniform, this would be a great
bonding experience for business
• Remember this is a FUN event no athletes of Olympic standard need apply. This
event would need a participant of absolutely no fitness.

Entry fee to Super Stars & Battle of the Businesses for sports clubs / not for profit organizations is
€100 for 2 participants, individuals can also enter the Super Stars for €50 per person

completed entry forms & cheques can be posted to Union Hall Superstars 2018 C/O Anthony
Walsh, Glenmar, Union Hall, Co Cork or given to any member of the Friends of Skibbereen
Hospital team.
The organizers retain the right amend/change any aspects of the running of the competition
without prior notice (all necessary steps will be taken to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience
to entrants).
While the organizers have taken all reasonable measures to ensure safety at the event, all
entrants enter the competition at their own risk and compete at their own discretion.

UNION HALL SUPERSTARS RULES 2019
The Super Star’s event is open to all businesses, organization’s sports clubs, etc.
● All competitors have to be aged 17 years of age or over.
● The competition is limited to 72 entries on a first come first served basis.
● Clubs / organizations/Businesses can enter an unlimited number of participants.
● An entry fee of €200 is payable per participants.
● A total prize fund of €2000 will be awarded as follows.
1st €1000 cash
2nd = €400, 3rd = €250, 4th = €150, 5th = €100, 6th = €100.
● Competitors will compete in 6 events which will be selected from the following,
80M sprint, 800M run, Rowing (on a machine), Basketball, Soccer, hang tuff, Box
Jumps & Obstacle course.
● An open draw will decide which heat each entrant competes in. ● The competition
will be run as follows
1. There will be 12 heats of 6 participants.
2. Points will be awarded for each event as follows, 1st = 10, 2nd = 7, 3rd = 4, 4th =
3, 5th = 2 6th = 1.
3. The winner of each heat will qualify for the semi-final 4. The winners of heat 1 - 6
will be in semi-final 1.
5. The winners of heat 7 - 12 will be in semi-final 2.
6. The top 3 from both semi-finals will qualify for the final.
7. In the event of a tie in an event the points for each placing will be joined together
and split between the competitors.
8. In the event of an overall tie the result in the hang tuff will decide the winner.
9. If a competitor does not complete in an event, they do not get any points.
