User-Centred Translation with Dr Tiina Tuominen
Event Information
About this Event
User-Centered Translation (UCT) is a model for translation and translation assessment that combines elements from usability research, translation studies and technical communication. It offers practical tools for taking end users into consideration in any kind of translation. In user-centered translation, information about users is gathered iteratively throughout the translation process, using different methods such as mental models and heuristic evaluation. This information is then used to create a usable translation.
The aim of this workshop is to familiarise the participants with the rationale behind user-centered translation and some methods that can be used to produce a usable translation. The workshop will consist of a presentation on user-centered translation and hands-on exercises on selected UCT methods.
N.B. If you just wish to attend the presentation (the first hour of the session), there is no need to register.
This workshop is organised as part of Translation Week at UCC, in collaboration with Project DaRT.
