USOM Presents GUITAR NIGHT LIVE Ep 4: Jake Curran
Event Information
About this event
Every Saturday night in April, Ultimate School of Music are hosting Guitar Night Live, a livestream guitar interview show with special guests. Some of Ireland's top professional guitarists across all genres will be on the show, interviewed by USOM director Daniel Jacobson.
This is a rare chance to hear these players talk openly and informally about how they got into guitar, and what got them to where they are now on their guitar playing journey. You will also see and hear them demonstrate their favourite techniques and practice methods.
You can even pick their brains by joining in and asking questions!
Each guest will be announced one week before the show.
The idea for Guitar Night Live came about when we at USOM were thinking about what we could be doing for the large guitar community in Ireland, including our own students. While the webinar will be free to all, during the show we will put up a Paypal Donate link that will let you donate any amount, small or large, that will go directly to our featured guest's own paypal account. A lot of these great artists have lost a huge portion of their income due to gig cancellations.
Guitar Night Live will be free to participate in (you will need to download the Zoom app and have an internet connection).
So see you Saturday night 25th April!
Episode 4 of Guitar Night Live features the extremely successful young Irish guitarist Jake Curran
Jake Curran has achieved a lot in a short time. He is currently Niall Horan's musical director. He has performed and recorded with Julia Michaels, Michael Buble, Embrz, The RTE Concert Orchestra and John Alagia (John Mayer, Jason Mraz). He has performed live on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen Show, The American Music Awards and The Country Music Awards. All this, and he's only in his mid-twenties!
Jake has a unique sound, which is unsurprising when you find out he lists 4 of his main influences as Pat Metheny, Michael Landau, John Coltrane and Miles Davis.
He's simultaneously an in-demand session musician, a perfomer playing on big stages like Madison Square Gardens, a composer and bandleader of his own instrumental quartet that play small clubs in Dublin like Arthurs... but on top of all of that, he's a really warm, generous and forthcoming guy, and we're delighted to welcome him to Guitar Night Live.
