Event description
Jarlath Killeen, Associate Professor of Trinity College presents an online talk via Zoom on Victorian Dublin and Vampire Literature.

About this Event

Have you ever wondered why Victorian Dublin produced two of the most seminal writers of Vampire fiction, Le Fanu & Stoker?

As middle class protestants in catholic Ireland, did they relate to the outsider status of Vampires?

Was Dublin laden with inspiration for such Gothic horror i.e. Marsh's Library, St. Michan's Church?

Was Dublin itself a factor, the second City of the Empire, more in common with that imperial system than rural Celtic Ireland?

Jarlath Killeen, Associate Professor of Trinity College and contributor to the Irish Journal of Gothic and Irish Studies, will discuss such issues, on Lucan Library's Halloween special Zoom talk, Victorian Dublin and Vampire Literature on Thursday 29th October at 7pm.

Please note: A valid email address is required.

Zoom links to the event will be emailed to the supplied address by the facilitator.

Only one ticket is required per device.
