Event description

Description

We all know the success of Pokemon Go, the augmented reality game, that took the world by storm last year, but how much do we all know about how Augmented Reality ( AR) and Virtual Reality ( VR) can help you or your start up business?

Our event will focus on the little known potential VR and AR can give you to connect, communicate, collaborate, develop and promote your business in the Digital World which is rapidly growing around us.

The session will start with an overview of what exactly AR and VR is and how it works by showing some examples of start-ups that are leveraging VR/AR technology already. Following this will be a quick demo of some of the free AR/VR systems that are on the market at the moment and which are also quick and easy to use.

This will bring us to introducing the availability of free training through a global program called VR First through First Labs and Centre in Dublin, Ireland and around the world.

Our session will have a PC based VR system to try the virtual reality application on along with some augmented reality demos.

Questions & networking are highly recommended while present participants can have a go at testing the VR/AR equipment.

Our speaker for the evening, Colin Keogh, works as an engineer in UCD and is determined to change the world by using Science and Technology to solve some of the world's biggest problems. He is a co founder of the charity project The Rapid Foundation which utilises low cost disruptive technologies to make an impact on global issues. Colin has been named as one of Forbes 30 under 30 in Science and Medicine. He was also a finalist of JCI Dublin TOYP (Ten Outstanding Young People) in 2017.
