Principles of Galway Volunteer Centre’s Approach to Volunteer Management Training

This programme is delivered in a hands-on, participative style and is designed to provide you with a best practice volunteer management framework for involving volunteers in your organisation.

It is the intention of Volunteer Galway to ensure that the modules focus on the practical realities of managing volunteers, so that participants can see the value of taking a strategic and structured approach to volunteer management within their organisation.

Volunteer Galway staff have been trained and accredited through Open College Network Northern Ireland (OCNNI) to deliver the National Volunteer Management Training Programme.

We also work to a limit of 8 people per course, to ensure that each participant has a fair amount of time to contribute on the day, as this, we believe is the most effective means of learning.

Since 2006 Galway Volunteer Centre (Volunteer Galway) has been supporting members of the public to find suitable volunteer roles in Galway City and County through selecting roles on our daily updated list of volunteer opportunities that we advertise on behalf of non-profits and community organisations in Galway.

In the last 10 years, over 11,000 members of the public have come to us wanting to get more involved in their community and we estimate that people finding volunteer work through us have contributed over €7,000,000 worth of volunteer hours in Galway.  We have advertised over 2500 roles for over 500 organisations based in Galway.
