About this event
A Heritage walk exploring the rich heritage of Cong village and surroundings including the Harry Clarke windows, the Abbey, the Monks fishing house, the Guinness tunnels, and many other places of interest around Cong village. The walk ends in Cong village the village where there are several pubs/restaurants’ shops available for anyone who wishes to spend some time in the village.
Commencing at 11 am in Cong village church car park, taking in the following route and sights.
1. Harry Clarke windows in Catholic Church
2. Passing by the outside of the Abbey
3. Old Telephone Box on left as we walk around the village
4. Old Courthouse now the tourist office
5. Half doors of Cong
6. Salmon Hatchery
7. Old Dance Hall and new village rising of the waters seating area
8. Carlile Bar
9. Market Cross
10. Quiet man bronze sculpture depiction of Maureen O 'Hara and John Wayne
11. Hands of Fame etc
12. Twisted Chimney
13. Walking through Abbey grounds
14. Passing over the abbey bridges ( looking back at the island of Cong)
15. Curlew willow sculpture

20. Guinness Tower
21. Toureenard Fort
22. Back through the wilderness (Cong wood)

27. Finishing with time to wander through the Abbey.
Return to the village where there are a number of pubs/restaurants shops available for anyone who wishes to stay and have a cup of coffee or stronger or avail of lunch.
