About this event

Harmania Choir will serenade the audience . Ned Gahan - Waterford Whisky Head Distiller passionately shares the ethos of Waterford Whisky and introduces us to this latest blend with a talk-through and tasting of a free dram of Whisky. Step back into the past with historian Joe Falvey. Joe will walk us through the years and the important people from this Waterford heritage site. Discussing the Strangman Family, Timbertoes Bridge, the Victorian Brewhouse and more.
Waterford Distillery proudly launches a new release, Heritage: Hunter. For a little over 15 years, Hunter was the barley variety for Irish malt, accounting for 75% of Irish malting barley purchases by 1966. A favourite with brewers and distillers for the distinct and intense flavours it imparted. It wasn’t to last. By the end of the seventies, Hunter had been replaced for the usual reasons of yield and pest resistance.
We are delighted to once again share these forgotten and lauded flavours of this remarkable variety with you – a glimpse back in time, a chance to experience real rarity in whisky and invite you to come to sample the whisky and immerse yourself in the history and heritage of this very special location.
