About this event

Are you interested in using or creating Open Educational Resources but always wondered how this works?

In this Open Scholarship Café we look at progress from the NUI Galway OER pilot project, which encourages students and lecturers to adapt and create OER for local needs. We'll take a look at a couple of examples from our funded projects as case studies to get a sense for how easy it is to adapt OER in your classroom.

Over the course of the session we'll have a look at a couple of new Open Textbooks that have been created as part of the project.

Additionally, we'll consider the following:

• What are Open Educational Resources (OER) and Textbooks and what do they have to do with students and teachers at NUI Galway?

• How are OER being used by institutions around the world? What are their benefits for students?

• How are OER being used at NUI Galway?

• Update on Library OER creation supports

• Update on NUI Galway OER creation pilot project, Open Press at NUI Galway, overall

This will be a virtual session and attendees will receive a Zoom link prior to the session via email.
