Wellbeing Programme - In Person Day
Event Information
About this event
The day will feature two sessions: in the morning BelongTo will deliver training for youth theatres focused on supporting LGBTI+ youth theatre members including young people who are exploring their gender identity. The afternoon session will be a drama workshop facilitated by Anna Galligan which will give participants the opportunity to play!
The event is open to facilitators and leaders of youth theatres affiliated to Youth Theatre Ireland.
The sessions have been created in response to recent consultations with youth theatres. In addition to the learning from the sessions, it will be an opportunity to reconnect and meet other people from the youth theatre community.
To support the participation of as many people as possible, we are offering to cover travel costs should participants require it. Where youth theatres have a scheduled workshop on 14th May, we can cover the cost of a replacement facilitator.
For all queries including travel or facilitation cover, contact Katie on 087-9880307 or email katie@youththeatre.ie

ABOUT THE SESSIONS

This workshop is a universal introduction to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex community. It is perfect for those who want to broaden their understanding of these topics.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the training, participants will:
- Know the challenges faced by LGBTI+ people in Ireland
- Develop confidence in responding appropriately if a young person, friend, family member, or colleague comes out to them.
- Understand language and terminology relating to sexuality and gender identity.
- Know the necessary steps to take to make their space more inclusive for LGBT+ people.
There will be time set aside for questions.
Session Two - Come Play!
It has been a tough few years. There hasn't been much room for fun and play. Anna has been given a brief of design a 'we want to play' workshop. Some of the ingredients you can anticipate are improv, movement, devising, laughter and some boldness (because sometimes it's fun to break the rules and there have been so many of them over the last number of years). Come play with us!
