Wellness & Resilience - Getting a Good Nights Sleep with Inspire Wellbeing (All Staff)

Sleep deprivation can lead to: chronic tiredness, mood changes, frustration, difficulty controlling emotions inability to think abstractly and absenteeism. The Sleep Council’s (2014) research reveals that the average person goes to bed at 11.15pm and gets just six hours and 35 minutes sleep per night.

This workshop will assist participants to recognise issues preventing effective sleep and improve it overall for participants.

Biography | Ciaran Lanigan

Ciaran is currently working as a clinical nurse specialist in mental health and has held this position for the past 10 years. He is a registered nurse prescriber since 2013.

Ciaran has obtained a BSc hons Diploma in Occupational Psychology from University of Ulster. He also has a post graduate diploma in mental health from DCU and has achieved an MSc in Nursing from RCSI. Ciaran was recently awarded an Honorary Associate by the RCSI. This was in recognition for giving lectures in the university to post graduate nursing students. He is a member of the advisory group for JIGSAW in Dublin 15 which is a counselling service for 12-26 year olds who are struggling with mental health issues. As part of his role, Ciaran visits schools in the area to talk about mental health awareness.

He meets with the Leinster Metro rugby academy twice a year to talk about Coping with Disappointment and Building Resilience. Ciaran also works for The Wolfe Group as a consultant. His role with the company involves teaching in areas such as quality, management and medication training.

Ciaran regularly delivers seminars in the areas of Stress Management, Resilience Building, Coping with Mental Health issues in the workplace, Sleep Hygiene and a number of other mental health related topics.
