Wellness & Resilience - Work Life Balance (All Staff)

Course Overview

  • Work life balance workshop will assist attendees to manage their time better.
  • People who work 10 or more hours a day compared to those who don't have a 65% higher risk of heart related disease
  • Better time management will benefit all aspects of life; you will be working less and producing more.
  • This workshop will show how to focus on the important things, set accurate and achievable goals, and communicate better with your peers at work and your family at home.

Workshop Contents

  • Explain work life balance
  • Assess your personal balance
  • Look at ways to make small but effective changes
  • How to make the changes

Course Outcomes/Learning Objectives

  • Recognising the importance of having work life balance
  • Ability to leave home stress at home and work stress at work
  • Learning to take some “me” time.
  • Overall improvement in WLB

Biography | Ciaran Lanigan

Ciaran is currently working as a clinical nurse specialist in mental health and has held this position for the past 10 years. He is a registered nurse prescriber since 2013.

Ciaran has obtained a BSc hons Diploma in Occupational Psychology from University of Ulster. He also has a post graduate diploma in mental health from DCU and has achieved an MSc in Nursing from RCSI. Ciaran was recently awarded an Honorary Associate by the RCSI. This was in recognition for giving lectures in the university to post graduate nursing students. He is a member of the advisory group for JIGSAW in Dublin 15 which is a counselling service for 12-26 year olds who are struggling with mental health issues. As part of his role, Ciaran visits schools in the area to talk about mental health awareness.

He meets with the Leinster Metro rugby academy twice a year to talk about Coping with Disappointment and Building Resilience. Ciaran also works for The Wolfe Group as a consultant. His role with the company involves teaching in areas such as quality, management and medication training.

Ciaran regularly delivers seminars in the areas of Stress Management, Resilience Building, Coping with Mental Health issues in the workplace, Sleep Hygiene and a number of other mental health related topics.
