Description

Inviting Hunter region community members, land managers, consultants, bush regenerators, educators and students to DISCOVER, SHARE and LEARN.

MORNING TEA, LUNCH and AFTERNOON TEA PROVIDED

WEAR: clothing appropriate for a field trip including sturdy shoes, long pants, hat, sunscreen and insect repellant

DOWNLOAD: the FREE “iNaturalist” App prior to the workshop if you have a smartphone

BRING: wetland plants and experts will assist you to identify them


MORNING TALKS INCLUDE:

LOUISE DUFF from Australian Wetland Network who will speak about RAMSAR and the importance of global wetland conservation

CHAD BERANEK from Newcastle University will speak about frogs, habitat creation and conservation in the Hunter

PEGGY SVOBODA from Hunter Local Land Services will share work on Hunter Wetland Vegetation Migration

STUART BLANCH from Hunter Wetlands Centre will update us on current projects in the area

TIM MOUTON from the Conservation Volunteers will share the success of the Allowah Wetland project

GRAHAM PRICHARD from Lake Macquarie City Council will help you to identify wetland plants



AFTERNOON FIELD TRIPS INCLUDE:

Field trip A— IRONBARK CREEK WETLAND, Boscawen Street, Wallsend (near Wallsend Bunnings) with Angus Weingott from Newcastle City Council. Hear about how we can look after wetlands and participate in tubestock planting to revegetate the area.


Field trip B— HUNTER WETLANDS NATIONAL PARK with Louise Duff—Conservation Volunteers and Stuart Blanch Hunter Wetlands Centre. Download the iNaturalist App, record species and contribute to data sets for the wetlands.


You decide which field trip to attend on the day - numbers limited.
