About this event
One third of our wild bee species are threatened with extinction because of the loss of habitats that give them food and shelter.
For several years, Tidy Towns have been leading the way in improving our communities for pollinators. Each year, new and exciting work takes place across the country as Tidy Towns work towards the increasingly popular Pollinator Award. This talk, led by the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, will give you a clear idea of what your Tidy Town can do to help pollinators – and what to avoid doing – no matter the size of your community.
You will also learn about some of the great work that Tidy Towns have done in previous years for the Pollinator Award, and find out about the free resources that can help you develop plans with your own group.
The All-Ireland Pollinator Plan
The AIPP 2021-2025 is a new five-year road map that aims to help bees, other pollinating insects and our wider biodiversity. It is coordinated by the National Biodiversity Data Centre which is a Heritage Council programme.

About the organiser
The Green Picnic campaign will be run over the summer months by Waterford City & County Council and Wexford County Council. The Summer months of June, July and August 2021 will see an increase in the number of people holidaying at home, taking day trips and visiting all public amenities in our Counties. With this in mind the Green Picnic campaign will run June – September 2021 to ask people to bring reusable items wherever possible and to bring their litter home with them, leaving no trace of their visit. We aim to promote positive and active participation in a campaign that will focus on the theme of reuse and encourage all to take responsibility for their actions and their waste.
