About this Event

ADHD while it affects 5% of the population (or one in 20), ADHD is still very much a misunderstood condition. ADHD when identified and treated is a very manageable condition, however the rates for un-diagnosed ADHD in both children and adults is very high in Ireland. This talk will explain what ADHD is and what it is not, what are the treatment routes and tips on how to manage living with the condition. This talk is suitable for both parents of children with ADHD and adults living with the condition.

This talk will be delivered by Dr. Kate Carr-Fanning.

Kate achieved her B.A. (Hons.) degree in Psychology, before undertaking her Ph.D. in Psychology and Education in Trinity College Dublin where she explored stress, emotion, and coping with children with ADHD. After which, Kate began her current position as Lecturer / Course Director in Childhood and Youth Studies in Coventry University. On this trandisciplinary course, Kate lectures on the psychology and education strands, with a specialism in special educational needs and inclusive education.

Kate has spent over a decade working with a range of national and international ADHD and SEN charities, engaging in research, practical service provision, advocacy, publications, research, and lobbying. At present, Kate sits on the Board of ADHD Ireland and is on the Professional Advisory Boards of ADDISS and ADHD Europe with a remit over research and education.
