What We Left Behind : Remembering the 1969 Moon Landing
Date and time
Description
Join artists, filmmakers and performers at a multimedia event in A4 Sounds on the 21st July to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing - when Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the Moon.
What We Left Behind is inspired by the man-made objects that remain on the Moon after the golden age of space exploration ended in the 1970s. We left behind footprints and flags, experiments, memorials to fallen space explorers and personal mementos. We also left bodily waste, excess baggage too heavy for the return journey, golf balls, and the feather of a falcon.
What else did we leave behind after the last mission returned to Earth? Our optimism? Our trust in science? A vision of a Space Age future? The idea that a shared dream could unite mankind?
