Event description

Description

Inspired by Andy Warhol's iconic Pop Art series of using images of everyday objects, join Julie Duhy and explore the ancient and modern Icons of Ireland by crafting hand-made paper mobiles.

Imbued with playfulness and humor, paper mobiles will mesh the Pop Art style of Warhol’s iconic ‘Campbell’s Soup’ prints with our very own symbols of Eire!

The workshop is presented to coincide with Rita Duffy's solo exhibition, Strength and Glory, and incorporating the theme within the exhibition of Irish symbols.

Looking deep into our past and delving into the present, Children will examine the importance of National Identity.

From Tayto to Potatoes...Stew to U2, Harps to Leprechauns, Guinness to Joyce, we are spoilt for choice....

This Workshop will spark curiosity, pleasure, and pride about local environments, history, culture, and the richness of modern and ancient Ireland!

About Children’s Workshops at Highlanes Gallery

Workshops are for children aged 5 - 13yrs, and charged at €8 per child, with booking essential.

Workshops at the gallery are process-based and explore basic concepts and ideas with children as they are looking. The emphasis is placed on understanding the ideas surrounding the objects. Making objects forms part of that process but is not the only goal of the workshop.
