+ His Father's Voice & SHŌTO

Bennigans Bar, Derry

Friday 29th November 2019

Premiering their latest single 'High Digger' recently with Steve Lamacq/BBC Radio 6Music, London post-punk duo JOHN have announced their debut run of Irish gigs for November, including a date in the locally-renowned Bennigans Bar, Derry. Having played with the likes of IDLES, METZ and mclusky*, the band will be releasing their highly-anticipated second album 'Out Here On The Fringes' (Pets Care Records) on October 4th - we couldn't be more excited to have these dudes play Derry, having been longtime fans.

Special guests on the night include Limerick shoegaze group His Father's Voice fresh off supporting Viagra Boys and Derry post-hardcore four-piece SHŌTO.

-----------------------------------------

Following the release of acclaimed debut 'God Speed In The National Limit' in 2017, Crystal Palace based two piece JOHN (both members aptly sharing the name) have continued to gather a reputation for their unique live performances. This was never more evident that on 2018's European tour supporting Bristol heavyweights IDLES: a trip that spanned 11 different countries and finished with a momentous sell-out show at the Bataclan in Paris. Having returned back on home soil, JOHN recently recorded a live session with Seattle's influential radio station KEXP and follow up with the release their second offering 'Out Here On the Fringes' in October 2019.

----

His Father’s Voice is a post-punk outfit from Limerick that combines a controlled chaos of unflinching soundscapes reminiscent of Manchester's brooding late 70s and the reverb-soaked wailings of early 90s shoegaze, mixed with vocals steeped in a compellingly melodic pop sensibility. Heavily influenced by the dynamics of Joy Division, Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine and Alvvays, His Father's Voice introduced themselves to the local music collective DIY LK mid-2018. With the support of DIY LK injected into the band, His Father’s Voice release their debut EP ‘Context and Perspective’ on 16th March 2019, following on from their anti-Valentine’s day release of leading single ‘No Room for Romantics’.

SHŌTO are a four-piece punk/post hardcore from Derry, N. Ireland.
