Silicon Republic's Women Invent Tomorrow campaign has been running since March 2013, championing female role models in Science, Technology, Enginering and Mathematics, and changing perceptions. Following the success of our Female Founders Forum and 100 Top Women in STEM events in June 2014, we have been inundated with requests for another get-together. Voilà our #WomenInvent Meet-up on Tues, Nov 4, at the Digital Exchange, Crane Street, Dublin 8.
This is designed to be a relaxed and sociable evening with tasty canapés, wine and refreshments served. However, at Silicon Republic we're all about great content, and this meet-up will be no exception. You will hear the thoughts of our great international speakers and local heroines, and have an opportunity to put your thoughts and questions to them.
- We're thrilled to welcome Eventbrite co-founder and president Julia Hartz (pictured left) back, after her much lauded appearance at the Female Founders Forum. Julia came to co-found Eventbrite via Hollywood where she worked as a network television executive on such programmes as The Shield, Nip/Tuck and MTV's Jackass.
- We're very honoured to have Sharon Vosmek, CEO, ASTIA, join us for the first time. Astia’s mission is to propel women’s full participation as entrepreneurs and leaders in high-growth businesses, fueling innovation and driving economic growth. Under Vosmek's guidance, the Astia community of investors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders has grown, from 20 individuals in Silicon Valley, to more than 5,000 around the globe.
- And of course it wouldn't be a #WomenInvent meet-up without our awesome young scientists Ciara Judge, Sophie Healy-Thow, Émer Hickey, recent winners of the International Google Science Fair, and listed in Time magazine’s list of The 25 Most Influential Teens of 2014, alongside Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai. They first came to all of our notice as winners of the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in 2013, and in June Silicon Republic awarded them our Rising Stars award as part of WomenInvent. Come meet them!
